BOOKS
I'VE READ
A great influence has been the
books by Katzenbach and Smith - The Wisdom of Teams and
The Discipline of Teams, in particular. More recently, the rather
ghastly titled 'Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work' by Jon
Gottman and Nan Silver has thrown an interesting perspective on
relationship issues.
LESSONS
FROM CLIENTS
The challenge in so many
organisations was summed up well by one of the delegates to a coach
training programme I am running with 16 partners in a UK legal firm. 'You
have to realise the challenge here, Richard. As solicitors, we're taught
to take the emotion out of everything. Now you're asking us to put it back
in.'
FREE STUFF!
www.pdf955.com
has to be one of the neatest, most useful pieces of software ever
created. It allows you to set up a virtual printer on your PC that
converts files (any) into Adobe Acrobat files that you can send to anyone.
You can even download it FREE. If you're already involved in relationship
coaching or counselling, the special interest group on the
Co-Active Network is a great
resource.
GREAT
EXPERIENCES
Listening to the
soundtrack CD of The Hours by Philip Glass. Watching a jay fly in and take
food from the bird table just outside our home in the Blackdown Hills...
never seen one up close before. Enjoying the start of the new series of 24
on Sky... addictive. Experiencing some of the buzz of being a journalist
(which I once was) in support of my wife's campaign as Labour Candidate in
our local constituency.
